We felt it was time our Arbroath Smokie was celebrated with its own festival! A celebration of all things Smokie, SmokieFest will be fun for all the family. From sea shanty workshops to cooking demonstrations, there is something for everyone. We will also be joined by the amazing Auchmithie Haar Ladies. Local food & drink producers and crafters will be on hand to further enhance your Smokie experience!

This guided walk takes you through Arbroath’s layered past, beginning at the historic signal tower and moving through key harbour and industrial sites. Hear vivid stories of pirates, the Bellrock lighthouse, and a French privateer attack, then explore where fisher folk lived and worked, where the Arbroath Smokie is produced, the early Abbots Harbour, and the town’s role as an industrial powerhouse. The route finishes at South Street beside Victoria Park, where you learn about former industries, family life and the beliefs that shaped the community. Led by a local whose heritage is deeply rooted in the fishing community still existing to this day.
